William Alexander Henderson was born in Nov. 1882, educated at the Melbourne Technical College, and married Ella Uberfuchshuber in 1912. He served with the Australian Military Forces with the rank of Captain in the Australian Engineers. He was appointed to the Australian Imperial Force on 6 Aug. 1915 and with the rank of Major commanded the 5th Field Company Engineers.
